Congratulations to our 2022-23 Exceptional Service Award winner Tammy Heydari, Guest Teacher! The Exceptional Service Award is the district’s highest honor for classified staff members.

Students from Vista del Sur participated in the MESA (Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement) Regional Design Day at GCU on February 11. Students either participated in challenges or received feedback on their designs. Vista’s On-Site Engineering team placed second out of approximately 25 teams during this regional competition. The Vista Hack Attack group was able to compete against other teams, and consistently ranked in the top 5 during those practices. This group will now use the practice and feedback from Saturday to help them prepare for MESA Day, which will be held at GCU on May 6.

Vista del Sur will begin accepting 2023-24 school year open enrollment forms for prospective students on January 17, 2023. Forms must be completed online.

District superintendent Dr. Sprout held an assembly at each school to introduce all third and fourth-grade students to the Superintendent’s Math-All Stars Club, challenging students to spend 15 minutes a day practicing math skills. Students who join the club will be given a Chromebook to use at home for the duration of the school year. Students will participate in the ALEKS online math program, a companion product to the district’s math curriculum. ALEKS uses adaptive tools to tailor students’ math practice to their identified needs. Dr. Sprout will appear in Google Classroom videos monthly to congratulate students and introduce the month’s challenges and monthly prizes.
